Chemical Peels

What Are Chemical Peels?

A chemical peel is a skin resurfacing procedure in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to remove the top layers. This noninvasive cosmetic treatment is used to rejuvenate the skin by accelerating cell turn over and stimulating new growth. The skin that grows back is usually smoother, less wrinkled, and more vibrant. Chemical peels are used to treat wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and acne scars.

There are three types of chemical peels: light, medium, and deep. The depth of the peel depends on the type of chemical used and how long it is left on the skin. Ask your care provider about the different peels available and what is most suitable for your goals and skin type. Chemical peels can be a stand-alone service or combined with other cosmetic procedures.
